Description
Claret Cup Blooms by Lucinda Walter
Photograph was taken in the Green Valley, Arizona, area of this beautiful Claret Cup Cactus. The spectacular blooms on the cactus were amazing to see and photograph. One could tell that spring has arrived here in the desert southwest when these are in bloom.
Textures added.
Echinocereus triglochidiatus is a species of hedgehog cactus known by several common names, including kingcup cactus, claretcup, and Mojave mound cactus. This cactus is native to the southwestern United States and northern Mexico, where it is a resident of varied habitats from low desert to rocky slopes, scrub, and mountain woodland. It is most abundant in shady areas.

Beautiful! It takes me back to the days when I used to have a windowsill full of them! Unfortunately they died during our removal to London, probably due to some plant virus in the tea chests we packed them in. After all these years I still miss them. They will be blooming somewhere in The Garden of The Lord.
Lucinda Walter replied:
Kathryn, they are so beautiful when blooming. Thanks much and they will be in the Garden of The Lord.
