Description
Candles in church in Dublin, Ireland to remember the homeless in St. Patrick's Cathedral. Built in honor of Ireland's patron saint in 1190, it is not only the largest church in Ireland, but is also said to be the earliest Christian site in Ireland where St. Patrick baptized converts. The cathedral was damaged during Cromwell's invasion of Ireland in the 17th century and was restored in the 19th century by the Guinness brewery family. Buried inside is Jonathan Swift, author and former dean of the cathedral. Today, St. Patrick's is the National Cathedral for the Church of Ireland (Anglican).
